(Video) Colin Duriez – “Tolkien in Wartime”

The following is a plenary talk from the Inklings Fellowship’s An Inklings Week in Oxford. This one is by Colin Duriez. His title was “Tolkien in Wartime.” It was given at St. Giles Church on Friday, July 22, 2016.

Please note that the video was NOT professionally recorded. It was done by me using my Galaxy Note 4 phone  and was one of the first attempts to record a lecture. While the video itself is clear, the audio did not turn out as well as hoped.

The Oxford Inklings (Colin Duriez)

CThe Oxford Inklingsolin Duriez has written about C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien many times over his writing career as an expert on the two. But only this year (2015) has he come out with a book exploring the two of them along with a group of other friends who often met twice a week. The Oxford Inklings takes a look at the origins of this group that is often falsely called a “writer’s group.” In this chat with William O’Flaherty, he explains why it was much more while giving insightful details about the lives of the key members of this influential circle.

The follow interview features three people I’ve had as a guest previously sharing their thoughts on several questions I asked them related to aspects of Lewis’s works they’ve enjoyed and how his material has impacted their life. These guests are Peter Williams, Dr. Charlie Starr and Colin Duriez.
